Red Bull Romaniacs and Red Bull Erzbergrodeo will award World Championship titles in 2025 in both Extreme enduro rallye and Extreme enduro categories.
Breaking news in the Offroad motorcycle scene: the two largest and most prestigious international Hard Enduro competitions will join forces to award two categories of World Championship titles; an Extreme enduro rallye World Champion will be crowned at the 2025 Red Bull Romaniacs and an Extreme enduro World Champion will be crowned at the 2025 Red Bull Erzbergrodeo.
Sibiu, 13 March 2025 - Red Bull Romaniacs is a unique five day rallye in its twenty second edition. Like no other, it kicks off with an In-city Romaniacs Prolog, followed by four gruelling Offroad days, pushing competitors’ technical skill and endurance to the limit as well as surpassing physical and mental boundaries and at the same time being set in the most jaw dropping scenery of the Carpathian Mountains. Since its inception in 2004, Red Bull Romaniacs has always been a strong believer in awarding prize money to competing professionals and will always continue to do so.
Amateur riders represent the majority of competitors in this global event, which brings together over 65 nations, reaching into far, unforeseen corners of the planet, uniting enthusiasts, where amateurs get to participate in such an event side by side with the world's top elite riders. There are five Hard Enduro classes; Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron and Atom and new in 2025 are the Adventure Ultimate and Lite Classes and electric eMoto Expert and Hobby classes. The four new classes are a classic example of how Red Bull Romaniacs founder, Martin Freinademetz has tireless motivation and passion for the sport, with continual drive to stay “one step ahead”.
Martin Freinademetz: “I would like to thank our participants and our long-standing partners for standing by us and providing the basis for organising our sport at a high level and looking for ways to make this sport even more interesting and how to bring this sport closer to a broad mass of fans and spectators.
“We are creative when it comes to live reporting, and our media distribution also serves not only the core scene but also mass media all over the world. Adding new classes, such as the Adventure Motorcycle category this year and the eMoto demonstrates our typical pioneering spirit. We want to offer an even larger group of two wheel Offroad enthusiasts the opportunity to push their vehicles to their limits in the Carpathian mountains, some of the best terrain in the world and to compete with participants from all continents.
“Red Bull Romaniacs was part of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championships and supported being able to crown a world champion, which we believe is something the sport and its athletes truly deserve. With the FIM championship series now discontinued Red Bull Romaniacs has joined forces with Karl Katoch, the founder of Red Bull Erzbergrodeo and leading industry representatives to fill this gap and offer an alternative, independent award for the athletes, allowing the sport to continue thriving and move forward with new 2025 Extreme Enduro Rallye and Extreme Enduro World Championship awards.2024 In-City Romaniacs Prolog
Enzersfeld - The Red Bull Erzbergrodeo is the birthplace of Extreme Enduro and has significantly shaped this off-road motorcycle sport over the past 30 years. It stands as the ultimate symbol of the emergence and development of "Extreme Enduro" at the highest sporting level. With participants from over 50 nations and an unparalleled route layout, the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo has established itself worldwide as the most prestigious event in this discipline. As the world's toughest "single-day race," the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo pushes even the world's elite from all disciplines of motorcycle off-road racing to their limits. Winning the race is recognised as an honour on the international scene.
Red Bull Erzbergrodeo organiser and mastermind Karl Katoch explains the motivation behind awarding the world championship title: "Since its inception, partners and sponsors have recognised the outstanding importance of our event. This is precisely why I was invited to integrate the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo into the FIM Hard Enduro Series for three years—because without the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, this championship series would never have existed. Due to economic challenges the F.I.M hard enduro World Championship was discontinued, creating a gap in the highest level of competition in this sport. Therefore, the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo will now independently award an official Extreme enduro World Championship title—in collaboration with leading partners and industry representatives. The Red Bull Erzbergrodeo has set the standard for decades, and no other race offers a comparable sporting challenge. Through close cooperation with our partners, we guarantee a fair and globally recognised title award. This ensures that the world's best Extreme Enduro athletes can continue to compete for a prestigious title," said Katoch.
Red Bull Romaniacs and Red Bull Erzbergrodeo are proud to announce this significant new step in recognising and supporting the world of Extreme hard enduro, along with the exceptional athletes who push themselves to the limit in this demanding sport.
Event founders Martin Freinademetz and Karl Katoch, long-time colleagues, friends, and competitors at each other's events for over two decades have now joined forces to introduce a new championship awards system. This exciting development will ensure athletes continue to be recognised with an official Extreme enduro World Championship title, with the battle for victory set to intensify in 2025.”
