The Limitless edition adds a new element of endurance with a Marathon Stage.
Sibiu, Romania, April 22, 2024 - Red Bull Romaniacs withholds its reputation of having no limits regarding the evolution of hard enduro. This is demonstrated by the founder and organiser, Martin Freinademetz, who continually adds adrenaline fuelled excitement to the five day event, for both competitors and viewers, hence prompting the appropriate title “Limitless” for the Edition 21 of Red Bull Romaniacs.
In true “crazy” fashion, the Edition 21 will feature a unique “twist”, the Limitless competitors overnight Marathon Stage. These “twists” are what characterise and symbolise Red Bull Romaniacs, placing it into a category unto its own.
As part of the challenge of the overnight Marathon Stage, competitors will not be able to receive any assistance after they leave the Service Point on Offroad Day 2 until they reach the Service Point on Offroad Day 3. Between these two Service Points any bike maintenance will have to be done by the competitors themselves, using the tools they are carrying along with some extras provided by event sponsor Milwaukee, who will be on hand at the Parc Fermé with a collection of professional tools. There will be no tyre changing permitted between these Service Points. Service suppliers, service crews, factory teams, supporters, family or friends will not have any access during this marathon stage.
Dominik Olszowy (POL), Offroad Day 2.
Martin Freinademetz: “While the marathon stage adds a lot of complex logistics into the race organisation, it will not be the first time that we have used hotels in a different area for an overnight stage. It keeps things interesting and challenging and pushes competitors to a new level of adventure and knowledge, they will be forced to test their mechanical skills and how to pace themselves.”
The overnight Marathon Stage will be in Râmnicu Vâlcea, situated in the Southern Carpathians in Vâlcea County. Competitors will stay in hotel accommodations and the Parc Fermé will also be in this location. A new expanse of stunning terrain will be opened up for the hungry enduro athletes. Track Director, Teo Isac has been hard at work exploring and creating opportunities for the Limitless tracks which will pass through the Cindrel, Lotru and Căpățânii Mountains.
Offroad Day 2, The Impossible.
It is true to say that there is definitely nothing generic about Red Bull Romaniacs. It is incomparable to any other hard enduro event out there, with outlandish and inconceivable demands on endurance, training, mental preparation and all round motorcycle skills at all levels. It encompasses amateurs right up to the top elite professionals, competing in five very different classes, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Iron and Atom.
Graham Jarvis (GBR), Offroad Day 1.
Legendary Graham Jarvis, seven time victory title: “I know to expect something different here every year. Training hard for the technical terrain and pacing myself each day is important and hoping for the best! The surprises at Romaniacs each year also make it unique, the terrain and rally style makes it one of my favourite races.”
Four time victory title holder, Mani Lettenbichler: “Martin always has some crazy ideas, just look at last year! Hopefully this year it won’t be too much, I’m really excited to see what we will do this year and to ride some new terrain. It’ll be interesting what is going to come at the Limitless 2024.”
Together with the Marathon Stage announcement, recent breaking news of LEATT becoming the title sponsors for the daily live broadcasts LEATT LIVEmaniacs and Red Bull Romaniacs also announcing its support for the junior competitors with its collaboration with WESS Promotion GmbH in the 2024 FIM Junior Hard Enduro World Championship only stands as a testament to the dedication of Martin Freinademetz to grow and continually develop the sport of hard enduro.
The struggle is real in the wilderness. Kelien Michaud (CHE), Silver Class.
